It’s a popular notion that the hair is a person’s crowning glory. If you spot someone in a crowd that may not be considered pretty by normal standards, a great hair cut and lustrous tresses can almost always sway a judgment. Gorgeous hair is a priceless asset, and the dozens of hair salons in every city are a testament to this. Keeping your horse’s mane and tail beautiful is one of the most important steps in having a gorgeous horse. The difference between a beautiful mane and tail and a scraggly, thin mane and tail can make as much difference in a horse’s beauty as a person’s attractiveness. The first step is to untangle the mess that often happens over winter. Start by untangling the hair and getting out all the dreadlocks. Don’t rush this process, as you don’t want to pull the hair out. Work your way through the matted mane and forelock first. Start at one end of the mane and work your way slowly down the mane untangling one section at a time. Saturate sections of the hair with any over the counter detangler. Choose a large tangle, and slowly apply the product and separate the tangles with your fingers. Start at the bottom of the tangle and work your way up to the roots. Work the product into the hair by using your fingers, and gently pull the hairs, a few strands at a time. Keep doing this until the knots and tangles get smaller and then are gone. Repeat the same process with the tail once you have the mane and forelock untangled. You should stand to one side while detangling their tails, so you avoid being kicked by the horse. Help them maintain a calm and relaxed attitude by patting them gently, and then slowly move your hands down their necks and sides until you get to the tail. Once their hair is free from tangles, it is now safe to brush their hair by using a stiff bristle hair brush. Never use a comb, which does nothing but pull hair out. Start brushing the bottom of the hair and then work your way up to the roots. Don’t use too much force, and make sure that you don’t stretch the hair while brushing. Try to brush as gentle and slowly as you can. Patience is the key to leaving the most amount of mane and tail possible. It takes a long time to grow, so you don’t want to pull out what you have already grown by rushing this important step. Beth Moore has been a leading authority on horse grooming and especially on growing long, thick manes and tails on horses for over 20 years. Enable Skype Groups and Hiding Contacts
July 24, 2009I was asked the following:
Question….
I have completed my 1st pattern….after it was done & 229 Skype users added me as a contact, I then sent my introduction message…..it now shows in my ungrouped folder in Skype that I have 229 contacts, but I cannot see anything in Skype….when I go to my ungrouped folder, it’s empty, nothing showing in there…..please advise
Answer….
You need to make sure you have groups enabled and also in preset groups that ‘ungrouped’ is enabled. You could be hiding contacts as well. Also, be sure before any search and add you empty your ungrouped so you are not mixing people. There’s a post on my blog about setting up groups and moving contacts. http://peaceatlast.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/creating-skype-groups-and-moving-contacts/
How to check and solve…
On your main skype go to “view” then down to “contact groups” this will pop out a list. At the top will be “enable groups” there should be a check by this, if not click it and this will disappear. Repeat the steps view, contact groups and now you should see a check next to “enable groups” then near the bottom you’ll see “preset groups” scroll down to this and a menu will pop out. Be sure there’s a check next to “ungrouped” if not, click it and the same thing, this will disappear, repeat the steps to go back to this and there should be a check next to “ungrouped” now. Clicking these groups in the menu will check those not, and uncheck those checked.
Also, go to “view” then “contacts that are” and see if there is a check by “not sharing details” if there is a check skype will hide those that have not added you. I have mine set this way so I can easily find those that have added me but this could be another reason you see no one in ungrouped. It would show the number of people but not the names.

June 29, 2009My passion and motivation is, and always has been, animals. I have a non profit animal rescue Peace At Last Farms Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation, Inc. Since the farm and the animals are a full time job in itself I help support the rescue with online programs and we depend on donations. You are even welcome to sponsor one of the animals. All donations are appreciated and tax deductible.
I have a donation button available on my main webiste.
http://peaceatlast-yourcashflowcreator.com/aboutus.aspx
We are in need of regular monthly sponsorship. Every little bit helps. Even $20 a month goes a long way combined with the donations of others.
There are dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, pot bellied pigs, a goat, horses, a parakeet and an umbrella cockatoo that currently reside here. All of these animals are abandoned and/or abused. I get the hard cases, the ones even other rescues were unable to care for so many are here to stay.
These programs and peoples continued support is what gives these animals a chance for “Peace At Last.”
Wish List
Some items always needed here at the rescue:
Purina Equine Sr, Whole oats, Hay, Sand clear, pot bellied pig food, all stock, dog food, cat food and chicken feed, cat litter.
Other things we can always use:
Kiddy pools, feed and water dishes (low to ground), extra wood and tin, blankets in winter and any construction or fence materials (a piece here and there adds up to a new shelter).
I have a published article on one of the horses in my care. This article is something all women and anyone with a women in their life should read too, be it a mother, daughter, sister or wife. You may read it at

New Skype Hack Attempts – Do not accept file sends
May 10, 2009Urgent Update 5-11-09: If you accepted this file and did not open it you are still comprimised. Confirmed hijack of skype account that accepted, did not open and deleted. DO NOT ACCEPT FILES FROM ANYONE
***New Names added below***
WARNING I received a file send 4867jpg.scr from Steve Hennessee, there is no history in his chat, my skype history, and I can’t seem to locate a chat room with him in it either to check. Please be careful if you receive this, it IS NOT showing in his chat history or my history log and he is not replying to anyone. It is not Steve but a hacker.
This happened to a number of people months ago and is apparently still occurring. These files will come from persons you know and on your contact list. They may or may not respond. Several that lost their accounts to the hackers thought they were in conversation with their friend they do that sort of thing with all the time, send pictures between them.
The difference with this is, it DOES NOT come in normal. There’s no record in the person who sent it’s chat history or your history on your main skype page. It is unclear how these files are being sent through skype.
If you receive files sent to you like this DO NOT ACCEPT and block the sender. If not they will repeatedly attempt to send the file.
Should anyone accept this file it gives them access to your skype account which they take over. They then in turn send the same file to your list of contacts and have also gained access to persons paypal accounts.
None of the victims of this have been able to get their skype accounts back and/or their money returned.
This is a very serious threat please use extreme caution. Do not save, download or open this file. Many of them did not even open the file it was simply self executable.
If you accepted this file you could lose access to your skype account, they change the password and infiltrate your account spreading the virus and getting money from paypal.
If you accepted it DELETE it and run a virus checker. This somehow gives them your access so you may not even be able to log into your account. If you think you possibly got infected change your password before they do. Log out of skype and warn all your friends you’ve possibly been hacked.
Just from the warnings I sent today to some friends the names list is growing. Please be aware of the following skype accounts:
Steve Hennessee, Eloise Lord, Ron Hird, Carla Carey, Clint Burgess
Latest added names: drbarton54, kanndogirl
May 24th 9pm file send attempt from Mark Clutterbuck
I will try to post any new names reported to me as hacked or deemed suspicious during this latest hacker attack.
To block hacked or suspicious accounts click “menu” on their name in your list and then “block this user.”
Tracking Your Results Is Key To Any Promotional Campaign
May 7, 2009So many times I hear people say things like ”I’ve promoted my program everywhere with no results” or “I have worked tirelessly to promote this program with little results.” Okay, let me ask you this, are you tracking your results? Are you changing your methods due to those results? Why keep promoting through avenues that continue to produce little or no results? You are just wasting your time and/or money.
By tracking your promotional campaigns you can see what is working and what is not. It could be as simple as your wording. You’d be surprised how changing one word in your message can make a huge impact on your results.
Take commercials for example… We see them everyday and how many of them do you see stay the same? Very few if not all will change something. A little tweak here and there to constantly improve on their message to get it right. The same should apply to any campaign you are doing. If it’s not working, change it.
I’ve done many different avenues of promoting. Traffic exchanges, classified ads, social networks, safelists and such. The problem with these avenues is they are so bombarded with everyone trying to sell something we all get ‘blinders” on or go broke trying all the next “get rich quick” thing to come around.
People do not buy into products, they buy into the people behind the products. Hence branding is very key to anyone wishing to promote anything be it an online business or a brick and mortar store front.
There are so many thousands of programs and products out there that you have to do something to set yourself apart and be unique. Branding is how you do this. You need to make yourself recognizable as well as likable and even more importantly you need to be trustworthy.
I personally have found two things to be the greatest benefit to anything I wish to promote. My blog and a software tool I use to gain contacts. Why you ask?
With my blog people are able to get to know me and the things I find important and to even learn where my values lie. As for contacts, well contacts make the Internet and local world go around. Without contacts we have no potential customers.
With the software tool I have a way to gain unlimited new customers and a built in method of keeping in contact with them on a personal level. You see, like most advertising and contact methods people have become blinded to emails. The most used button on any email account is… “DELETE” and don’t laugh, we all know its true!
I’ve done my homework. I’ve tracked my results. I see the power behind these two very basic and very easy to use tools.
Let me ask you this, how many of you have blogs but do not actually track your results? I’ve talked to people and shown them my blog stats and they ask me “where are you seeing this?” That tells me they are not utilizing the tools available to them and are not tracking their results.
It’s really simple to do too. Now I do not use a hosted domain so my setup is a little different from those who do. To see your blog stats simply go to “my dashboard” and then click on “blog stats” that’s listed down the left hand column or hover your mouse over “my account” and a drop down will appear and you click on “stats.” You will be amazed at the things you can find out by doing this.
You will see how visitors came to your blog, what pages or posts they viewed, links they clicked and search terms used on google that lead them to your blog. Learn from these! This is very very valuable information that so many people do not use.
If you want more information on blogging and adding contacts or about the software tool I use please feel free to contact me. I’m always glad to help because it is by the act of helping people that you truly help yourself.
Questions about Swine Flu
April 29, 2009Because I rescue pot bellied pigs many people are asking me about swine flu and/or telling me to be cautious. Well the truth of the matter is your more likely to come in contact with Swine Flu going to the store or especially the airport.
Swine Flu is only named this because it was first discovered in pigs in 1930. This is not even the same strain as it has changed. There have been no occurrences of Swine Flu found in pigs here in the US and they are not even clear if pigs can catch this particular strain or not from humans.
Swine Flu is air born and can not be contracted by eating pork either. It is not a food pathogen. The best way to prevent Swine Flu is the same with any other flu or cold…wash your hands.
To read the full story on the origin of the swine flu and the findings please see the following article from news crop weekly.

I just read another very informative blog post about Swine Flu from a fellow twitterer and wanted to link it here too.

Why Natural Horsemanship Training?
April 28, 2009Common Misconceptions about Horse Training
I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen or talked to people who have sent their horse off for 6 months of training and been dissatisfied with the results. Everyone seems to think if they send their horse away to a trainer like this they are going to get back this dream horse they can do anything with. Instead they bring the horse home, put them in the pasture, and sometime later they get the horse out and wonder why in the world they can not do anything with them.
The average person, and all the people I’m referring to above, simply sends their horse off for normal handling and riding. Not for show competition. This is totally unnecessary, expensive and does not give you the results you are looking for. Just because a horse will do things for a trainer does not mean they are going to do it for you. Nor, even if you get them home and they do, if you do not work with them on your own they will revert right back to the behaviors of before.
How I look at it….
When ever someone asks me how much it is per month for training I say “Well it depends, I look at it weekly, most times its something that can be worked out in less time than that.
How I go about it…
What I do is bring a horse in for a week and evaluate the horse, address the underlying causes for their behavior and work on building trust, respect, confidence and a willing partner. I then work with the owner and repeat the same process with them. People have to understand that just because their horse gains the above attributes with a trainer DOES NOT mean they are going to have them with the owner. The owner and horse need trust, respect, confidence and be willing partners to each other.
Why It Works….
Having a horse is a commitment. You need to constantly build on your repore and understanding of your horse. Most people do not know how to do that. They are not a car. Yet on that note, to put what I’m referring to in easier terms, what would happen if you never maintained your car? You didn’t check the oil? You didn’t give it a tune up? You didn’t fill it up with gas? Your car would no longer do the things you expected of it. Now think of a horse, that has its own mind to add to that.
How many of you watch RFD-TV? Do you have a favorite horse professional you like to watch? Say you went out and bought Magic, Diez or any number of horses that belongs to one of these professionals and bring them home only to stick them in the pasture and pour food to them every day. Then six months down the rode you decide to ride them. How cooperative do you think they are going to be? Or how responsive? How happy are they going to be? Not very…
